Our Cheverny Estate
Located in the heart of the CHEVERNY & COUR-CHEVERNY appellation, “LE PORTAIL” is a family-owned estate.
We specialize in wines entitled to use the designation Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC), some 600 meters from the famous Château de Cheverny.
Our history
Previously a monastery, LE PORTAIL is an old estate where viticulture has been practised for centuries.
Our estate is also located in close proximity to the famous Château de Cheverny, which served as the location used by Belgian cartoonist Hergé in « TINTIN ».
Our Vineyards
Since 2000, LE PORTAIL has adopted viticulture and wine production practices respectful of the environment.
In 2020, the Portail domain was certified High Environmental Value. Our wines are also vinified the traditional way to preserve their authenticity and promote our terroir.
Currently, le portail is a family-owned estate with vineyards spanning 32 hectares of land:
- 2 ha in the appellation of COUR-CHEVERNY
- 29 ha in the appellation of CHEVERNY White, Rosé and Red
- 1 ha in CREMANT DE LOIRE

Our Chai
The domaine LE PORTAIL is located near the CHEVERNY Castle (600 meter), direction "CHENONCEAU".
Our domaine offers you some degustations with many locals cheeses ans cold cuts. But also wines sales of our domaine. The visit of the cellar and the degustations are only possible by appointement or reservations.
