The Estate - Cheverny
The DOMAINE "LE PORTAIL" is located in the heart of the CHEVERNY & COUR-CHEVERNY appellations. Protected designation of origin wines, just 600 metres from the renowned Château "CHEVERNY".
Our History
Previously a monastery, LE PORTAIL is an old estate where viticulture has been practised for centuries.
Our estate is also located in close proximity to the famous Château de Cheverny, which served as the location used by Belgian cartoonist Hergé in « TINTIN ».
Our Vineyards
Since 2000, LE PORTAIL has adopted viticulture and wine production practices respectful of the environment.
In 2020, the Portail domain was certified High Environmental Value. Our wines are also vinified the traditional way to preserve their authenticity and promote our terroir.
Currently, le portail is a family-owned estate with vineyards spanning 40 hectares of land :
- 5 ha in the appellation of COUR-CHEVERNY
- 34 ha in the appellation of CHEVERNY White, Rosé and Red
- 1 ha in CREMANT DE LOIRE
Our Winery
The estate is located 600 metres from Château de CHEVERNY, in the direction of "CHENONCEAU".
Our estate offers tastings, as well as the sale of estate wines at our cellar. Visits of the cellar are by appointment only.
